SB : Today we have the songstress Ms. Julia Nixon here in the Journal. Hello Julia and thank you for talking with us today.
JN :Hello it is so nice to be here with you and it is also a great pleasure to have you spotlight my song “Survive” ( Livin). It seems to have a powerful life force of its own! I am quite proud of this project.
SB : No doubt! Let's take off! First off I want to again thank you for your time and energy. Tell us How long have you been singing?
JN : I was 8 yrs old. A classmate of mine was asked to sing to the class. She sang “Summertime”. I just, without thinking blurted out “I can do that”. All classmates laughed and made big fun of me saying “no you can’t”! I stood up and sang the words and tune she had just sung and the rest is history. I never stopped and “Summertime” is still one of my most requested songs to date.
SB : What and who inspired you to tap into your talent?
JN : well the classmates name I just spoke in details about was Constance Johnson and it didn’t hurt that both parents sang. My father was an original Dixie Hummingbird’s member. He sang bass! This man’s voice was outrageous. I guess of ALL siblings (we all sing) I got his talent.
SB : Moving forward, what is your ultimate goal for your music and your brand?
JN : Great question it’s the kind of question that could cripple an artist’s answer if you over think it.
So for me I’d say create catchy, infectious songs with a story. To try to keep the message on the positive, tasteful side. Also young as well as old know that it ain’t over until you decide! It doesn’t matter you just go for it. “I am Livin’ life and Lovin it”!!!
Thank you for this interview it’s my first like this.
SB: Before we go do you have any shoutouts ?
JN : Weadom Abdul, John “Foster Child” Foster and Aaron Green for writing and producing this song and making this song happen; my son Nikko, he gave me the time to heal so I could go for it; the gang at Mr. Henry’s for allowing me to practice my craft in a great room with a serious supportive fan base that never gives up on me!!!!
SB: Julia it was a pleasure to have you with us. Thank you again for your time and energy! You can find Julia Nixon streaming on Urban Intel Radio.
